"You are important!" the congregation was told during my second visit. "The people on the other side of the world are reading about you and the good work you are going." The 250-plus gathered during my second weekend visit (September, 2000) saw colored pictures in the Big Sandy News of some members in front of their church; my father, Dewey Moore; and the plaque they placed on the wall to show their appreciate to my step mother, Ruth Massey Moore, for giving them this church.
 
My first sermon during the dedication in 1999 emphasized the "church" is made up of people, not bricks.
